With the idea of planning FONDEMA’s future, the last couple of months I worked together with my colleagues to evaluate the events and initiatives the Foundation has organized since its beginning in 2013 up until today. After a thorough assessment of FONDEMA’s past, present and future endeavors, it was clear that the mission we had established for Foundation FONDEMA, four years ago, was no longer the organization’s mission and it did not match the aim of the events we had organized in the past.
For this reason it was decided that the 31st of October of 2016 Foundation FONDEMA would close its doors in the Netherlands, and the new organization PROMENA Foundation would be founded to take over the task of promoting the MENA region in the Netherlands with a new clear and improved vision and mission.
Before introducing PROMENA Foundation I want to take the time to thank FONDEMA’s volunteers, all which have made my work a rewarding and fulfilling experience. In the same manner, I would like to extend my most sincere gratitude to the individuals, organizations and other partners that contributed with their time, resources and expertise to FONDEMA, since without their selfless support, not a single one of our events would have been possible.
As president and Board Member of PROMENA Foundation I firmly believe in the mission statement of the organization and I am sure, with your help, PROMENA will succeed at creating innovative events that highlight the cultural richness and diversity of the MENA region.
If you have any question or comment please feel free to contact me at my new email: email@example.com and hopefully I will have the pleasure of seeing you soon at our PROMENA events.

From FONDEMA to PROMENA
PROMENA Foundation is a non-political, non-religious organization founded by Ms. Eveline J.A. AMERICA and Mr. Arezki ADJERIOU on the 1st November 2016 in The Hague, the Netherlands, looking to promote the cultural richness and diversity of the MENA region.
PROMENA’s goal is to organize cultural events in the Netherlands to promote cultural awareness and tackle prejudices of the often negatively perceived MENA region. This Foundation aims to encourage an informed, critical and respectful dialogue about the cultural diversity and richness of the MENA region by creating events such as: conferences, workshops, seminars and cultural programs.
In the coming months PROMENA will be hosting two events, first, PROMENA’s End of the Year Party and second, the conference ‘What we hold on to: memories from home.’ The first one will take place the 8th December 2016 and the second event will take place in spring 2017 and will explore the state of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) MENA region, in the context of the current migration crisis. More information about the time and place of both events will be sent soon, however if you have any urgent comment, question or suggestion do not hesitate contacting us at: firstname.lastname@example.org
We are very happy to start working for PROMENA Foundation and we hope to welcome you all at our events.
